Every parent needs to remind their child about Halloween safety. Do not let them eat the candy before you inspect it unless you are only going trick or treating at trusted family and friends. Tampered candy is one of the newest and biggest problems with Halloween.
Have your child wear bright colored clothing they can see out of. People driving in the dark may not see your child if they are dressed in dark colored clothing. If the costume is a dark color use reflective tape so traffic can see your child. There are reflective necklaces your child can wear as well.
Have your child take a lantern with him or her if the area does not have street lights. There will be less chance of him or her falling over a hole in the ground if they can see where they are going.
Make sure your child does not go into strangers' homes. It is so easy for a child to be tempted and if you are not standing at the doorway with your child, your child could disappear in an instant.
Trick or treat in groups. There is safety in numbers and the more the merrier. Stay safe this Halloween.
