Remembering Whitney on OWN features Oprah interview

A show in memory of Whitney Houston will be presented on 'OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network' on Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 9-11 p.m. ET/PT. Remembering Whitney: The Oprah Interview will include the music legend's last in-depth television interview from The Oprah Winfrey Show, according to a February 12, 2012, press release from OWN. 

Music icon Whitney Houston, 48, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012. The singer was at the Beverly Hills Hilton participating in pre-Grammy events. Grammys add tribute for Whitney Houston - pictures of Whitney Houston.

The interview from The Oprah Winfrey Show may be the most compelling of Whitney Houston's career. Oprah Winfrey will also reflect on her personal memories of the superstar and share the magic of the musical icon. 

Whitney Houston sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey in Sepember, 2009, for The Oprah Winfrey Show season premiere. Houston spoke with raw candor about her private struggles, including her battle with drug abuse and her 14 year marriage to R&B star Bobby Brown, which was filled with pain and emotional abuse.

 She also revealed why she left the spotlight. Houston spoke of her 'crazy love' for her husband,  the emotional abuse she endured during their  marriage and the day she finally left him. Houston also spoke about her sorrow over the death of her friend Michael Jackson, who had died less than three months before this interview. At the time, Houston was starting over and she talked about  her hopes for the future. 

At the time, Oprah stated that she believed the interview with Whitney Houston was the best interview she had ever done. Oprah said that she realized that Houston really was every woman.
