It is one of those moments in life when people can tell you exactly what they were doing when the news hit.  Last year on June 25th, many woke to the sad news that an Angel, Farrah Fawcett, had lost her battle with cancer; however it was only hours later that an American icon of the music industry, Michael Jackson, was pronounced dead.

With the loss of two Hollywood celebrities, our country, as well as the entire world mourned.  It was Michael Jackson that spoke louder than ever expected.  From London to China, from Florida to Germany, people were buying out Michael Jackson music and shocked by the sudden death.

For many teenagers it felt the way their parents did when Elvis died.  It was a gasp of morality and reality that a young, talented performer that everyone age group knew (from toddlers to grandpas) you can be sure that everyone knew at least one of the many Michael Jackson hits.

In her first interview since the death of Michael Jackson, Katherine Jackson speaks out on Dateline, A Mother's Story, however this morning a glimpse of footage was aired on Today Show with Matt Lauer.

Katherine Jackson talks about Michael's children.  Paris who wants to work towards being an actress.  Prince who has a passion for electronics and Blanket who, like his father, loves to sing and wants to be a singer.  Katherine reminded us he is still very young.  The children, overall, are doing very well according to their grandmother.

Watch more tonight on Dateline on 9pm EST on NBC.
