The report of Hollywood beauty, humanitarian, and activist Dame Elizabeth Taylor’s death has made the world stand still today. According to her publicist, Dame Taylor passed away of congestive heart failure. She was 79 years old.
What does this mean for the mountain, specifically? There are no findings that Dame Taylor was an avid skier or mountaineer. However, I found one picture that can prove she liked to mountain a little. Most likely this is a publicity photograph taken when Dame Taylor was just little Liz, but I would like to think it was snapped while she was having a day on the mountain sledding. Then of course followed by some hot cocoa in the lodge with friends and family.
Such a perfect picture to represent Dame Taylor as a mountain girl, isn’t? Little Liz and her generous smile warming the hearts and souls in the cold, mountain air. That childlike warmth remained until the end and will remain in our hearts, on and off the mountain.
