Her second album "One In a Million" has songs written by rap artist Missy Elliott and produced by Timbaland. Her last album Aaliyah was released in July 2001 just a month before she passed away. The album debuted at # 2 on the Billboard Top 100 charts. All three of these albums have been certified double-platinum. She also appeared at the 1998 Academy Awards performing" Journey To The Past" from the Anastasia movie.
Aaliyah also was an accomplished actress staring in "Romeo Must Die," with Jet Li and DMX and "Queen of the Damned," was ended up being released after she passed. At the time of her death she was shooting the two Matrix sequels. Nona Gaye replaced her in the role.
