On a sunny Tuesday in September 2001 our world was forever changed. In my head, I have relived that morning each year on that day, each time I see the photos, and as I watch the live ceremony at ground zero I cannon help but feel a deep sadness for the loss of lives, but in their memories we have a responsibility to make sure that their death was not in vain.
My son was a small infant and my daughter a distant thought - speaking with them about that day has not been easy. Our town has scheduled an event for this evening to commemorate the day, so I thought it was important to discuss the events with them. It is not a story of sadness that I tell though. It is a story of triumph. It is the story of an America that if only for a little while pulled together. The ceremony is open to the public and will take place in the Buchanan City Commons.
