On September 11, 2001, the United States of America changed forever. The wings of the bald eagle sheltered our nation from foreign terrorism and we innocently lived with little fear of war on US soil. The age of innocence ended at 8:45 am EST.
Do you remember where you were at when you learned about the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks? Of course you do; we all remember that day that began as a beautiful Tuesday morning. As the years have passed, have your memories faded? Do you find yourself avoiding the images more and more as time passes?
The words “never forget” resonated throughout our nation in the days that followed September 11, 2001. We declared we would never forget the lives lost the first responders and the unspoken heroes that bravely stepped up while others found shelter. Do you still remember the heartache you felt during those mournful days?
The memories of September 11, 2001 are painful. The memories of watching the events unfold on TV still haunt all of us on some level. So many Americans lost so much on that dreadful day.
Take time this Patriot’s Day to remember and honor those who are no longer with us because of those horrific terrorist attacks. If you pray, take a moment of prayer or meditation for the families that were affected on September 11, 2001. These families will never forget; it’s not just an annual day to remember the lives lost. They feel the effects of 9/11 every single day.
Let us never forget September 11, 2001.
