The Helen Woodward Animals Center (HWAC) is one of the most progressive animal rescue organizations in this country today. Because they are so involved and always coming up with methods to further their good work, they have decided to champion an international campaign called REMEMBER ME THURSDAY. It will begin on the west coast of the US, where HWAC is located, and progress across our nation to New York and then to Puerto Rico and as far away as Japan.
On Thursday, September 26th at 9:00 a.m., animal rescue organizations and rescue facilities across the world will light a candle in remembrance of the pets whose lives were needlessly lost and shine a light on the orphaned pets still awaiting their forever homes.
Each candle that is lit across the country on the exact same day will serve as an honorarium to the millions of pets who lost their lives over just the past year without the benefit of a loving home. The word about this sweet awareness campaign has spread like wildfire thanks the support of celebrities, their social media posts and other rescue facilities that are planning on joining in on this great cause.
You, the public are also invited to take part in this international celebration. Helen Woodward Animal Center is inviting people across the world to take part. They are especially focused on the people right within their west coast community becoming activists. The more the merrier as we are all aware.
HWAC will begin this first annual global event at the Center’s International Animal Welfare Conference that will take place at the Hyatt La Jolla and begin at 9:000 a.m. on Thursday, September 26th. The Remember Me Thursday global awareness campaign was created by Mike Arms, President of HWAC. He is also the champion of the International Pet Adoption and International Home 4 The Holidays program which, in partnership with national animal organizations, has place 8.3 million pets into loving, forever homes since 1999.
Arms has joined in partnership with the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. This partnership represents over 150 animal welfare organizations in New York, NY and by Maddie’s Corner, another international animal welfare organization founded by Tony and Emmy Emmy Award Winning singer, actress and animal advocate Kristin Chonoweth, dedicated to bringing attention and support to animals in need and groups working on their behalf. The Mayor’s Alliance is planning to hold the east coast Remember Me Thursday candle lighting ceremony at the Bideawee Pet Welfare Organization in New York, NY.
Stay tuned for more exciting information about this global event as details are released. Go out and purchase your candle now so that you, too, are able to participate in honoring those unfortunate animals that silently passed without nary a thought. Then, plan to participate on Remember Me Thursday in less than two weeks.
