Remedies out in paperback!

Remedies by Kate Ledger was released in paperback by Berkley Trade in August. Named an Indie Next List Notable Book for August 2010, Remedies should be of interest to Baltimore readers as one of the main characters, Simon, is a physician in private practice in Baltimore, and the author worked as a senior writer at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.

In Remedies, Simon and his PR executive wife, Emily, spend their days fixing the pains and mistakes of others. Yet they cannot move past the hurts that have put a damper on their relationship. While Simon believes he has the cure for chronic pain, Emily struggles with her feelings for a past lover. Ledger juxtaposes chronic physical pain with emotional pain in Remedies, a novel of a family in crisis. In the Minneapolis Post, Ledger said, "“I think there’s a lot going on beneath the surface of these characters, and through them we can think about the things we are struggling with in our society, or the things we’ve lost,” she says. “And maybe we can find a way to heal them.”
