Late yesterday, there was news out of North Carolina that human remains found along Interstate 295 are likely those of missing Fort Bragg Soldier, Kelli Bordeaux.

Pfc. Bordeaux, 24, was last seen April 12, 2012, at the Froggy Bottoms Bar in Fayetteville, N.C. shortly after the bar closed.

The person of interest in the case has always been Nicholas Michael Holbert. He admitted to giving Pfc. Bordeaux a ride home the night she went missing but the evidence was never there to make an arrest; until yesterday.

Working off a tip, detectives searched an area north of Fayetteville along the corridor of I-295 and found remains consistent with those belonging to the missing Soldier.

Bordeaux, assigned to the 601st Area Support Medical Company, 261st Multifunctional Medical Battalion, 44th Medical Brigade, served as a combat medic.

After the remains were found, Nicholas Michael Holbert was charged with first degree murder. Law enforcement officials indicate they could add additional charges as the case unfolds.

Last year Pfc. Bordeaux was declared legally dead so her family could receive survivor benefits.
