It wasn’t long ago that my wife and I were trying to find a town and house for our family to call home. I remember scouring every blog and website I could find, and reading every comment and thread that contained the name of the town I googled. It didn’t take long before I realized that every opinion imaginable is available online if you really look for it. I stopped the madness.
At the time of our search, we were living out of state and I couldn’t fly in every weekend. I had to be efficient in my search, and I wanted to get a grasp of everything before I went in any one direction. We decided to approach our search mathematically.
I was born and raised in the Bay Area and we wanted to be around friends and family. We have four children and they are the most important thing in our lives, so the search was mainly about what was best for them. Coinciding with my family was my plan to open Hensley Real Estate in California, so the real estate market in the area was a huge part of the consideration.
We crunched numbers on schools, crime, health, housing and safety statistics. We then looked at all the remaining options and figured out which communities we could actually afford at the time. We found that Rocklin led in almost every statistic of importance, and that it was considerably cheaper than the Bay Area communities that had similar schools scores and safety statistics. Rocklin it was.
Immediately when moving here we found that it was hot. I mean, hot. We moved here right before the summer and it was not long before the sweltering heat of July and August was upon us. Fall could not come soon enough. A good air conditioner is a must, and a neighbor with a pool is a plus. Despite the heat of summer, autumn and spring are gorgeous in Rocklin, and the winter is short and mild. A fair trade off that we have grown to accept willingly.
Really, we have no complaints about Rocklin. It is a great community with great schools. Any kind of restaurant and shopping imaginable is right here. You can drive to the Capitol of California in 20 minutes in Sacramento. You can go east an hour and be in Tahoe or Reno in the mountains, or you can go west an hour and be in the Bay Area or on the beach. Napa, Yosemite, Clear Lake; they are all just a short drive away from Rocklin. My neighbors have been fantastic and my children have made friends here quicker than anywhere else we lived before. We are thrilled with our decision to move to Rocklin and we don't plan on leaving anytime soon, if ever.
If you are relocating to Rocklin and you need help finding a home, please give me a call. Maybe you just have a few questions; I would love to help. Talk to you soon!
