Faith Driven Consumer, an organization responsible for connecting Christian consumers with faith based companies, has launched IStandWithPhil.com petition, according to Radar Online, on December 19. Phil Robertson, “Duck Dynasty” patriarch, was recently placed on hiatus by A&E.
Robertson was practicing his freedom of speech in the January issue of GQ magazine in which he stated,
“It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical. Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”
On Wednesday A&E announced Robertson would be placed on “definite hiatus.”
IStandWithPhil.com cites the A&E network’s “intolerant, discriminatory, and punitive treatment” of the Phil Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” stating that “A&E’s position, which in your own words is ‘championing’ the gay and lesbian community… effectively censors a legitimate viewpoint held by the majority of Americans.”
According to Faith Driven Consumer Robertson is being punished for quoting the Bible and standing for his own beliefs. A&E’s punishment is nothing short of bullying and hypocritical.
A&E issued a statement stating that the views of Phil Robertson are not the views of A&E as a whole and that they are his own personal beliefs and opinions. A&E went on to say they “have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community.”
What are your thoughts on the “Duck Dynasty” Phil Robertson hiatus; just cause or wrongfully punished?
