With the registration deadline a few weeks away, the Religious Education Office at Christ the Redeemer is offering after-mass registrations for the last several weeks in August. In addition to this last opportunity to register before the August 30th deadline, Directors of Religious Education have given personal appeals for the K-6 English and Spanish programs and the Grades 7-12 Programs looking for additional catechists. A number of classes are still in need of catechists and additional Religious Ed. volunteers are needed.
Classes are set to begin on Monday, September 16th. This is the day after Catechetical Sunday and the RE Kick-off event. Catechists and volunteers are asked to come to the 10 AM Mass in English and the 12 Noon Mass in Spanish. A special commissioning of Catechists and volunteers will take place at each mass followed by special presentations in Atonement Hall and a short Presentations for Catechists.
More information about Catechetical Sunday is available at the Pastoral Wing Website. Parents still in need of registering are encouraged to do so immediately rather than to wait to see if their Grade has enough catechists yet. Families who have been considering switching parishes to Christ the Redeemer for Religious Ed. reasons (among others) should make their final decisions now before the Registration Deadline. One of the after-mass messages this weekend is, "Everyone needs to come forward. The only way this whole process works is if those that need to register come forward and do so and those that are able to help out in Rel. Ed. come forward and do so."
Catechists and church volunteers who will have substantial contact with children need to be compliant with the diocesan policy on child safety and protection. More information is available here.
