Rejecting a coven

Usually, when a seeker or an initiate of Wicca first joins a coven, he or she is fearful of judgement. Not wanting to rock the boat and be rejected might cause a newcomer to overlook red flags that point out that the coven is not a good fit. Finding a right coven is less like finding the perfect religious label for yourself and more like dating. It can take trial and error in order to mesh well with a group of people.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, the covens are thick on the ground. It is unlikely that any one coven you meet will be the last one in the area to take on new students. So, if you don't feel a connection with the people in your coven, you can part ways. If you feel like the coven is a particularly bad match for you, or if they do things with which you disagree, you can feel safe to run far away to find a better home.
