Reince Priebus predicts 2014 GOP tsunami, 'autopsy report' yet to be implemented

During the summer of 2013, Sen. Ted Cruz flatly predicted that an "Obama-like grassroots tsunami" would bring President Obama to his knees and Obamacare would be repealed.

What happened was the federal government shut down, thanks to the Cruz "tsunami"? The Republicans paid a stiff price.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is using that same word, "tsunami," in flatly predicting yesterday that Republicans would defeat the Democrats in 2014.

It was Priebus who released a report just a year ago, that he called the "most comprehensive post-election review" ever made of an electoral loss.

It was scathing self-report on the state of the Republican Party and made some key points of the devastating 2012 loses, which included the White House and the U.S. Senate.

Priebus said that "Our message was weak; our ground game was insufficient; we weren't inclusive; we were behind in both data and digital; our primary and debate process needed improvement," Priebus said of Mitt Romney and the GOP's 2012 loss. "There's no one solution. There's a long list of them."

Fast-forward a year and it appears that the Republican message is still "weak," they lack a "ground game" and most important, they are still not the party of "inclusion."

Inexplicably, Priebus said at a breakfast sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor, "I think we’re in for a tsunami-type election in 2014. My belief is, it’s going to be a very big win, especially at the U.S. Senate level, and we may add some seats in congressional races."

But nothing has changed and the report, "Growth and Opportunity Project," has not been implemented.

Yet Priebus scoffs at the suggestion, as he was asked repeatedly, that comprehensive immigration reform—something the autopsy report strongly endorsed, has not passed in the House due to intense opposition from the far right.

"I would caution you not to impose your definition of what comprehensive immigration reform is," he told a reporter. "There’s a general agreement that we need to have serious immigration reform, but I don’t believe there’s general agreement as to what that reform is."

Sounds like Priebus are on the same path as Ted Cruz. Then another "autopsy" will be ordered.
