Reiki is a healing discipline. There are general guidelines for Reiki practitioners to follow when they perform treatments. Some variations in method may occur but the basic principles of Reiki remain consistent. The five Reiki Principles describe an approach to living as follows:
- Just for today, don’t get angry.
- Just for today, don’t worry.
- Just for today, be grateful.
- Just for today, be honest in your work
- Just for today, be kind to yourself and others.
The Reiki Principles are a tool designed to promote spiritual and personal growth. Daily application of the principles is imperative to foster a healthy attitude toward others and more importantly, toward the self. The idea is to become a better person and therefore, a more effective Reiki healer.
Reiki can do no harm. Reiki is a healing art; as such it can only be used to positively affect a client’s health. Some of the health benefits of Reiki include:
- Supports the body’s natural healing abilities.
- Re- establishes balance and well-being on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels.
- Promotes a sense of total relaxation.
- Allows for the free-flow of life force energy throughout the body.
- Cleanses the body of poisons (toxic build-ups).
- Reiki energy is intelligent; it goes where it’s needed most for each individual client.
There are many Reiki techniques that a practitioner may use for or during a treatment. These include but are not limited to:
- Remote Healing (sending Reiki energy over distance)
- Group Healing
- Healing the past and future (sending Reiki energy across time)
- Healing with the breath
- Addiction treatment
Reiki is beneficial for both practitioner and client. It enhances the body’s natural healing abilities while also promoting feelings of bliss, relaxation and peace of mind. As an alternative to pain relief medicines, it’s healthier for the body, has longer-lasting results and addresses other issues within one’s body and soul.
