Thomas Kloos of Transport Adidas started the open men's race of the PAUSATF Cross Country Championships with a determination to win. Kloos had finished second last year, but won a pair of races earlier this season. In the early stages of the 6.09 mile race, Kloos set the pace by himself. A trailing pack of several runners, which included Crosby Freeman, Philip Reid, Sergio Reyes, all of the Asics Aggies, along with Transport Adidas teammate Austin Ramos, and others remained 60-75 meters back. As the race progressed, the pack broke into individuals pursuers, but with none closer than 60 meters to Kloos. Midway through the third and final lap, Reid closed the distance to overtake Kloos and then pulled away to victory. Kloos finished second, with Freeman just five seconds behind in third. Michael Coe was fourth, with two more Aggies, Mora, finishing in fifth and Reyes in sixth. A fifth Aggie, Jonathan Cardenas, finished ninth, to give the Aggie's team a convincing victory in both the championship and the season standings.
