Reid, Chiefs reportedly not interested in DeSean Jackson playing for KC

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported Saturday evening that the Kansas City Chiefs have dropped out of the DeSean Jackson free agency sweepstakes. Jackson will visit the Washington Redskins on Monday.

Given the Chiefs desperate need for a wide receiver and another offensive playmaker that isn’t running back Jamaal Charles, plus the past relationship between Jackson and head coach Andy Reid during their time in Philadelphia, many experts thought that Kansas City might be a serious contender for Jackson’s services in 2014.

However, after doing their due diligence on Jackson’s sometimes rocky last season in Philly with the coaching staff, and his unclear relationship with gang members in Los Angeles, an unnamed source with the Chiefs told Rapoport that Kansas City was no longer interested.

Frustrated Chiefs fans are now awaiting news that Jackson will play for the Denver Broncos next season because that is the kind of off-season Chiefs fans are having.

Furthermore, for NFL Draft nuts in KC, that puts wide receiver back at the top of the list for the Chiefs to draft this May. Unless, of course, they tick off their fan base by taking another offensive lineman with the twenty-third pick.
