Get a jump on your three-season trip planning or learn more about winter backpacking at REI Fresno's upcoming free seminar Wilderness Trip Planning in Sequoia and Kings Canyon NPs. The presentation will take place at REI Fresno on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at 7 pm.
Located less than 70 miles from Fresno, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks (known as SEKI) offer spectacular opportunities for backpacking in four seasons. Some of the highest peaks in the Sierra Nevada lie within these parks, and premier trails like the John Muir Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail transect its scenic meadows and passes. As rich in history as they are in natural beauty, these parks should be on the must-visit list of every Fresno backpacker.
The REI seminar will be facilitated by rangers from the parks, who will be on hand to answer questions about trails, permit reservations, and other essential details for flawless and memorable trips to the high country of Sequoia and King Canyon National Parks.
The seminar will take place at the REI Fresno store located at 7810 N. Blackstone Ave. The presentation is free, but registration is required and space is limited. You can reserve a spot online, and you don't need to be an REI member to attend. For additional information, please call REI Fresno at (559) 261-4168.
