Dr. Drew Pinsky returns to the PRC in “Rehab with Dr. Drew” on Sunday, September 16 at 8 PM ET/PT, but you can watch a sneak peek at VH1.

Addiction is an equal opportunity monster and these days many are addicted. Thousands of viewers have reached out to Dr. Drew and eight of them will check into the Pasadena Recovery Center to get help from Dr. Pinsky and staff to battle their demons, which have left some of them with serious diseases like kidney failure, ulcers, and deep depression. Getting sober will probably be the hardest thing they’ve ever done and their success in treatment could mean the difference between life and death.

Are they ready for the change? Viewers will watch the patients resist treatment by arguing with each other and threatening to leave against the good doctor’s advice: “You do not walk out of group. If you walk out of group, I will discharge you from this hospital.”

Counselor Bob Forrest returns this season to assist Dr. Drew, along with resident techs Shelly Sprague and Jennifer Gimenez, Will Smith and Dr. John R. Sharp, M.D., a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School, and the David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles.

The patients, who are battling everything from heroin and cocaine addiction to prescription drug addiction and alcoholism, are 31-year-old, Ashleigh Izzi; Jasmen "Cinnamon" Evans; 23-year-old, Deanna Salamone; 25-year-old, Andrew "Drewbee" Arthur; 24-year-old, Eric Adams; 22-year-old, Erika Melahn; 20-year-old, Michael Mariano; and 43-year-old, Heather Swartz.

“Addiction is a disease that doesn’t limit itself to celebrities but reaches across all economic, social and racial boundaries with lasting and profound effects of not only of the patients but also their families, friends and co-workers. Rehabilitation and sobriety on the other hand are an arduous lifelong journey,” said Dr. Drew.

Family and friends understand that addiction involves not only the addict, but the people who love them, and they pray they don’t get the call telling them someone they love is dead. Will these patients be able to push through their fear and fight for a new life?
