Registered sex offender charged with attempted abduction of 6 year old girl

A registered sex offender was arraigned on several charges on Sunday including Attempted Kidnapping-Child Enticement and Attempted Accosting and Soliciting a Minor for an Immoral Purpose.

Terry Lee Kostiuk, 52, of Redford was also arraigned as a repeat offender; he was convicted of Accosting Children for Immoral Purposes 2nd offense in 1996. He was given a $100,000 bond and was being transferred to the Wayne County Jail.

Police say Kostiuk tried to entice a 6-year old girl Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. to his vehicle by offering the child candy in the 18800 block of Poinciana in Redford. The child’s mother had been watching her daughter walk a few doors away to a friends home, observed the incident, and called police with a description of the vehicle and a partial license plate number.

Police arrested Kostiuk on Thursday after they were able to track him down with the partial plate.

One man’s opinion:

If this little girl had been snatched by this pedophile she would have never been seen alive again.

Why is a twice convicted child molester freely roaming our streets?

It is a fact that pedophilia cannot be cured.

The only way any convicted pedophile should ever be let out of prison is if they are either chemically or surgically castrated.

It is time for our lawmakers and judges see that this happens.
