PAWS, Philadelphia's largest no-kill animal welfare organization, is gearing up for their fall festival fundraiser later this month. Having just rescued their 10,000th Philadelphia pet on September 22, PAWS is keeping the momentum going and following up BIG this month with the 7th Annual Mutt Strut. On Saturday, October 19, PAWS wants everyone to bring their four-legged friends and join in on the fun. This year, the Strut will be held on the beautiful and spacious grounds of the Navy Yard, ensuring plenty of space for the many people, pets, vendors and activities.
Registration is open now for individuals an teams ($25 for adults, $10 for kids 12 and under). Don't have a mutt to strut with you? No problem, registrants at the $100 level can "rent a mutt," getting an adoptable PAWS dog out for the walk in the park, guaranteeing them some great exposure to potential homes. Once registered, you can create a fundraising page to share with friends and family to help make a difference for PAWS and the area's homeless animals.
Registrants get a sweet swag bag too, with everyone taking home a PAWS eco-bag and dog bandana (strut in style!). As the money comes rolling in for fundraising, the prizes get fancier too. For $100 (besides the pup rental), participants get a PAWS t-shirt. For $250 the bonus is a handy PAWS messenger bag and $500 upgrades to a commemorative Mutt Strut sweatshirt. High rollers with donations amounting to $1,000+ will score a $100 VISA/AMEX gift card.
The day of the Mutt Strut is full of fantastic and fun activities. Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the Strut around the gorgeous grounds of the Navy Yard starts at 11 a.m. Before, during and after, there will be a flurry of vendors, events, food, music and much more. (Keep checking the site for additions between now and the big day).
With live music from Clashing Plaid to set the scene, there will be plenty to keep humans and furry friends busy. There will be an agility course, a costume contest (shoppers at www.buycostumes.com can get 20% off with the code "MUTTSTRUT"), a talent contest, paw printing and painting, grooming and microchipping, booths for vet and trainer advice, pet portraits, a pit bull kissing booth, PAWS alumni gatherings and photos, reiki treatments, pre-Strut yoga stretch and much more. The best of the City's food trucks will be serving up all kinds of treats and beverages all day for people and pups and raffles and giveaways will ensure everybody wins.
The biggest winners of all are the pets PAWS saves and the people who get to welcome them into their families. The Mutt Strut is one of the most fun ways to help save our City's homeless and unwanted animals and give PAWS what they need to see not only are they saved, but to ensure they stay healthy and happy. Go now and register online, there is plenty of time to rally friends and family and make it a group day of fun and giving. Or just come on October 19th and join in all the festivities.
Potential vendors or sponsors can still participate. Go here for details or to register your business.
