Dallas area colleges offer an extensive list of Continuing Education classes. Sewists and crafters can take advantage of Brookhaven College's variety of sewing and craft classes that will keep the whole family busy this summer. While the classes may be a few months away, this is a good time to reserve your spot.
Brookhaven will offer a sewing class for ages 11 -17 from July 8 – 12. This class will teach basic apparel sewing which includes constructing pajama pants, adding initials to a pillow, using hand appliqué techniques and making a Crazy quilt. The class will meet 5 days from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Visit their website for more info about fees and registration.
Beginner adult sewists can learn machine and sewing basics. The Basics class will teach how to construct a simple top while learning how to use the sewing machine, select fabric, read a pattern envelope, layout fabric and pattern, mark and cut fabric, and interpret the pattern directions. Sewists can expand their basic skills in the ‘Intermediate Sewing’ class where you will learn how to construct a skirt or pants. This class meets June 24 to July 10 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. Visit their website for more info on class requirements, fees and registration.
