A Regis Philbin new show is bringing back the popular television personality. This time around he won't be co-hosting with Kathy Lee or Kelly Ripa, but instead will be on a brand new sports show, on a brand new sports channel from Fox.
A report on March 5 from EW.com indicates that Philbin will return to TV on Fox Sports 1, a brand new channel which will replace Fox's Speed channel. Regis' new show will be called "Rush Hour," and it's said to be a program similar to "The View," except a panel discussing the latest in sports topics.
Apparently Regis gave the inside info on "The View" show yesterday, which is said to have inspired "Rush Hour." Philbin told Barbara Walters:
"Yes, I think I will be doing another show. Fox is starting a sports channel. Everybody is starting a sports channel now, you know? Nothing but 24 hours of sports … Regis is going to have a show on that."
Regis Philbin's allegiance with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish was something he would discuss often on his previous daytime talk show. Philbin's previous television work included hosting the game show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" on ABC in addition to co-hosting "Live! With Regis and Kelly," also on ABC. Philbin left his role as co-host in 2011, and was replaced by former NY Giants NFL star, Michael Strahan.
By the way, Philbin holds a record for "most hours logged on TV" and it looks like he'll continue adding hours to that record thanks to the upcoming sports show.
