The Dolphins have been on a spending spree last week, but none of that money was ever meant to go to one of their own free agents, Reggie Bush.
Bush told Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post that the Dolphins never approached him with an offer.
"It's just the nature of the business. You have to have thick skin," Bush said. "It's an ugly side that sometimes we all don't like, but we all have to face it some time."
Bush wanted to stay in Miami, but the feelings weren't the same on the other side. Bush realized this and quickly signed with the Lions in free agency.
"As a competitor and as an athlete we take a little pride, and hopefully a team we just played with would want to bring us back," he said. "But obviously it didn't work that way."
The Dolphins have made it clear with their moves that they want to remake their roster this offseason. Both Bush and linebacker Karlos Dansby have been cut this offseason.
Bush on the release of Dansby, "Couldn't believe that one, because he was the leader of that defense. He's one of the few linebackers that I've actually played against and played with that I think can do it all."
The Dolphins seem to have the feeling of addition by subtraction. It may work out in their favor or it may blow up in their face.
