Reggie Bush rumors: Running back headed to Detroit

The Reggie Bush rumors are heating up, and while the Miami Dolphins have no plans to bring him back another team has thrown their hat in the ring. According to NFL.com on March 13, the Detroit Lions have offered Bush their starting running back position.

One of the biggest problems in Detroit in 2012 was the lack of a running game, which put extra pressure on their superstar quarterback Matt Stafford. Mikel Leshoure was supposed to be the answer, but he failed to impress, only picking up 798 yards on the season. While he showed promise at times, Detroit seemed to lose faith in the player.

The Reggie Bush rumors also seem to indicate that Detroit doesn't see Joique Bell is the answer. They shut Kevin Smith down early in 2012, causing the running back to speak out against his treatment, so he should see the door soon as well.

The biggest sign here is that this move may signal the end of Jahvid Best's NFL career, as Best has never returned from the multiple concussions that might have prematurely ended the talented runner's career.

In the battle for his talents, the Reggie Bush rumors extended to the Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals and Washington Redskins, but the Lions have offered him the starting role, something he would not have received at the other stops. Bush ran for 2,072 yards over the last two seasons in Miami.
