After five years, James Dewees will be bringing back his solo side project, Reggie and the Full Effect, for a new album.
‘No Country For Old Musicians’ will be released on November 19 through Pure Noise. The album was funded through Kickstarter, and recorded at the now closed Black Lodge Recording Studios, the last album to ever be recorded there.
In a press release, Dewees said of recording the new album, "Writing and recording Reggie and the Full Effect for me is like finding your best friends again after years of being away and being able to pick up right where you left off...and they brought snacks"
‘No Country For Old Musicians’ is Reggie and the Full Effect’s sixth studio album. Previous releases include ‘Greatest Hits 19834-1987’ (1998, 2004 reissue), ‘Promotional Copy’ (2004), ‘Under the Trey’ (2003), ‘Songs Not to Get Married To’ (2005), and ‘Last Stop: Crappy Town’ (2008). “ ‘No Country for Old Musicians,’ finds me living in North Hollywood, in an apt building full of early 20's aspiring dancers, models, actors, designers, etc, etc, etc...and me being 36 hearing their conversations from my patio, started feeling disconnected and old, cause I am,” says Dewees on his Kickstarter page. “I started to write music about how I can’t relate to any of the things they talk about. I wrote and wrote and wrote until I sat and looked and said "Holy Moly! That's a new Reggie record."
Best known for his time as keyboardist for The Get Up Kids, Dewees has played on over 40 projects, working with the likes of Napalm Death, Slipknot, Biffy Clyro, My Chemical Romance, New Found Glory, and many others. Dewees even had some help from his famous friends during the recording of the new album. Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance), Adam Lazzara (Taking Back Sunday), Allison Weiss, Sean Ingram (Coalesce), and Ray Toro (My Chemical Romance) all lend their talents to the record.
Reggie and the Full Effect made its live return this past weekend at Riot Fest in Chicago. A full U.S. tour is being scheduled for early 2014.
