Catonsville is quickly becoming known as the Music City. It has two regular music festivals and is adding another, the Family Time Festival, to its roster.
The Family Time Festival series will start off with a Spring Fling theme that will help kick-off the series of free music festivals in the Catonsville area. This music theme features roots music and Jamaican and Trinadadian music. The concert will be held in the courtyard area behind the 800 block of Frederick Road known as "Strawberry Fields."
The bands slated to play at this festival are:
Akua Benjamin and the Ilavibes Band - 10:30 - 11:45 a.m.
Roots, rock and reggae music featuring the Nyabhingi drumming.
Scott "Scotty" Paynter (Jah Works) - noon - 1:15 p.m.
Musician/vocalist from the popular reggae group, Jah Works, featuring his newly released album, "Draw Your Brakes".
Hubert "The Pan Man" Griffith - 1:30 - 2:45 p.m.
From the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, experience authentic caribbean steel drumming.
Strykers Posse Reggae Band - 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
High energy roots, rock, and reggae from the island of Jamaica.
There will also be raffles, moon bounces, games, and a silent auction. Whilst there, you can visit the various vendors and shops including Catonsville Gourmet restaurant, C'Ville Bikes, Just Right Technologies, Pottery Cove and You Scream for Ice Cream shops.
