Patrick Regan made like a B-17 Nov. 16 in Pooler, zooming down the "runway" to a first-place finish out of a field of 216 in the Flying Fortress 5K in a time of 14:37. The race was held next to the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum. Proceeds benefit restoration of a B-17 bomber and the national Character Counts program adopted by the museum and done through the local schools.
The 26-year-old finished more than three minutes ahead of Robert McCoy, 47, who had a time of 17:42. Alan Fischer, 29, took third in 18:25.
Christel-Ann Ramus, 15, topped the women's field in 21:28. Jordan Fischer, 27, was second in 22:09, and Joanne Perez, 47, placed third in 22:40.
Andy Tedesco, 57, proved he could run with the young guys, finishing first in the masters and sixth overall with a time of 18:43. Sharon Colter, 55, was the top the female masters, in 24:09.
