According to The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, a Regal Cinemas location in Virginia had repeatedly shown the incorrect film, "Rise of the Guardians", instead of showing James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy." After around 15 minutes of previews and when the feature presentation made its debut, audible expletives were shouted towards the big screen.

Audience attendee Dean Browell and his 10-year old daughter sat through a good amount of the footage as a theater employee came out to announce that they were addressing the problem. A second attempt was made to run the film and yet again "Rise of the Guardians" started up once more.

The result of this second mistake yielded the theater giving out tickets to a 3D IMAX showing at a later time. About half the audience members took them up on that offer. The Browells had to stick around only because the later showing of the recently offered freebie was too late for them to attend. Finally, a third attempt was made to run "Guardians of the Galaxy", however, the same problem reared its ugly head.

"There was a 10 minute wait, then the lights went down again and the third go of previews started, this time with the new Interstellar one, which gave us hope."

They had figured that with a different promotional piece at the beginning they were assured that "Guardians of the Galaxy" would indeed be shown on the third attempt. There was no success and the crowd was increasingly agitated because it went from an 8 p.m. showtime and at the point of the third failure it was 9:15 p.m. At that point, people stormed out of the theater and joined the crowd of 50 other displeased customers in acquiring their admission monies back.

Ironically, fans tend to see the same of their favorite movies repeatedly, this situation was a serious reversal of that scenario. Regal Cinemas tweeted their apologies for the trifecta of errors and were highly apologetic in their online tone. Customers were all refunded their admission costs and given tickets to the Friday showing as well as a movie poster of "Guardians of the Galaxy" of course.
