There is nothing like getting up early and making those first tracks in fresh powder. But where should you go when you need a break from the cold and grab a bite to eat so that you make it until last chair?
Snowmass – Up 4 Pizza
Located at the top of the Sheer Bliss chair lift, this small grab-n-go cafeteria has cheesy pizza with a thick doughy crust to enjoy while taking in the panoramic views of its outdoor deck and sipping a cold beer. Possibly better than the pizza and the views, though, are the hot and gooey chocolate chip cookies that make it worth the trip to 11,820 feet.
Breckenridge – Peak 9 Restaurant
If you are getting tired of the same old burger or pizza for lunch, head to the top of the Beaver Run Superchair and stop in to the Peak 9 Restaurant to enjoy a BLT on an everything bagel. It beats any deli at sea level. Wash it down with a spicy bloody mary from the bar.
Keystone – Alpenglow Stube
After an early start to your day on the slopes, you may still be craving breakfast and nothing is better than the Breakfast Calzone atop Keystone Mountain’s North Peak. Enjoy this treat while resting your legs, sipping a hot chocolate, and warming by the fire.
Steamboat Springs – Thunderhead Lodge
Looking for a sugar rush and caffeine boost? Take a well-deserved break at the top of the Gondola inside Thunderhead Lodge. Just steps inside you’ll find an espresso bar with Milk Run donuts, but get there before the crowds so not to miss out on the Maple-Bacon Donuts.
Aspen – Sundeck
The Sundeck restaurant’s rustic setting with breath-taking views is operated by the Aspen’s five-star hotel the Little Nell. You must try a customized wok stir-fry at the top the Silver Queen Gondola, and enjoy a top shelf cocktail or glass of champagne for a truly gourmet meal.
