On Friday, November 11, 2011, Griot’s Garage in Tacoma, Washington played host to “Reflections”, an automotive art exhibit and sale. An elite gathering of six artists were chosen to display their works before an “invitational only” private audience. Each of the six artists was there to personally meet with the attendees and explain their works.
The six artists in alphabetical order are David Bell (photography), James Dietz (original paintings), Jeff Ivanhoe (mosaics), David Sova (original paintings), Lucretia Torva (orginal paintings) and Donna Wayman (original paintings). The theme of the show was automotive art but each of the individual artists had a unique style and creative interpretation. James Dietz, an esteemed member of AFAS (Automotive Fine Arts Society), has a classic style with an emphasis on British motoring history. Lucretia Torva does classic muscle cars as well as human faces and form with equal mastery. David Bell’s photography highlights overall form and detail with an artist’s eye. Donna Wayman loves car subject matter but is also into human and animal portraits. Jeff Ivanhoe uses the mosaic medium to bring automotive form to life. David Sova is equally adept at capturing European sports cars as he is at American hot rods.
Please look at the attached slide show to get a glimpse of the great art on display at “Reflections”. The art speaks for itself and I anxiously await Griot’s Garage to host a sequel to this great event.
