Marv Dumon, Examiner.com: "You caused the stoppage, give me your thought process on that."
Referee Kenny Bayless: "Well at the point of the stoppage, Cotto's tank had basically ran out. He was moving around just to survive the 12 rounds. He wasn't really throwing punches. Though he was hitting Pacquiao with some good jabs, I was waiting for the opportunity on a good flurry to stop it because I didn't want Miguel to take any more punishment."

Marv Dumon, Examiner.com: "What was the earliest point that you considered stopping it?"
Referee Kenny Bayless: "It was probably around the eight or ninth round, somewhere in there. I went to his ( Cotto's ) corner, I told him: 'Look, if you don't show me something, I'm going tohave to stop it.' At that point, he started to get on his bicycle and move around a lot. So he just extended the time of me stopping it."
Marv Dumon, Examiner.com: "What was your biggest criteria for stopping it? Was it because he ( Cotto ) wasn't throwing or because he was running away?"
Referee Kenny Bayless: "My biggest criteria is to not let him ( Cotto ) take more punishment. Safety comes first. And I felt at that point that he had enough."
Marv Dumon, Examiner.com: "Can you give me any thoughts on Pacquiao vs Mayweather, Jr?"
Referee Kenny Bayless: "Well, I think it'll be another great fight. It's hard for me to speculate how the fight would turn out. Everytime Pacquiao fights, I'm impressed. I mean, he's moved up in all these weights, and he's still the king! And that's the impressive thing for me about Pacquiao. If he fights Mayweather, I think that'll be a tremendously, tremendously good fight."

Referee Kenny Bayless: "I think that this fight was good for boxing. I think boxing needed a real good quality fight like we saw tonight. And I just hope that Cotto doesn't end up developing anything serious from this fight."

Why he stopped the fight? He has preference to pacquai Steroid. Look, if he is assigned to Mayweather vs Pacquaio, definitely Pacman Streoid will win because he already implied Pacquaio is a tremendous steroid user, I mean tremendous boxer.
Cheers to Miguel Cotto! Although he lost, he showed his heart and skills that made him the best in Welterweight. It's just that he fought a great man in Manny Pacquiao. Nothing to be ashamed.

The best referee in Kenny Bayless, is the ideal person the referee the best fighters of this generation. He acts like an active boxer, quick to the draw, and has very good reflexes and an equally very excellent judgment. Manny Pacquiao is very quick and very powerful puncher. Mayweather is also very quick. So they deserve a very alert referee.
the prediction of roach is still good. he says its 9th or 10th round. cotto is just warrior and does not want to quit on stool but its already a mismatch after the 6th round. the late flurry on the 9th should be stopped already. so roach is still the nostradamus of boxing.

I was hoping for a quick stoppage by referee Bayless. Next time if Manny fights, bayless should stop Floyd from getting hurt
every fight we forget about the third man in the ring always. this article is very good we can hear bout the neutral part.
Bayless also played his decision to stop the fight at the maximum opportuned time.There can be some backlash if he insisted on the ninth or even eight round because Cotto doesn't want to fail and still fighting back(but almost a show).It was different in the twelfth round,Cotto was almost begging for a bell to sound.Pacquiao was looking at referee byless as if asking him to do somthing before he hurt Cotto gravely and beyond recovery.The people watching the fight in MGM were also shouting for the stoppage,it could have been a disaster if bayless didn't stop it right just after Pacquiao landed a big punch and ready for the final powerful blow to land on cotto's.
Cotto was not responding anymore and heavily breathing through his mouth.Yes ,referee Bayless prayer is also my prayer that i hope there will be no long term effect to Cotto of that devastating lost.
Kenny Bayles did the right decision to stop the fight. Cotto looks terible, if you did not watch the fight early on, you might think that kenny Bayless & the Pacman gang on him, to inflict such damage on Cotto's face.

Kenny Bayless is an excellent referee. VEry quick to call attention to low blows and clinching. I think, he is the best among all the present crop of referees.
kenny Bayless did the right decision in stopping the fight. The beating on Cotto's face looks terrible,and if your sober, it looks like Pacman and kenny gang on Cotto.
Kenny is right in stopping the fight but he should had done earlier. I always watch Kenny being a fair-minded person in the ring. I salute you Mr.Bayless. You're the best referee in the sport. You should be chosen for the Gaywither-Pacman fight if that would happen.

Danny Glover, I mean, Kenny Bayless could've stopped the fight earlier. THE Pacman seemed holding back, maybe because someone came across his mind, like his fellow boxer Z Gorres who was still in serious condition during that time. Maybe he was afraid it could happen to Miguel if he gives his full attack. Cotto gave Manny a hard fight. Miguel really has a genuine champion's heart!

good decision on the ref. Pacman was actually stopping at the middle of the ring and let Cotto get away. Not sure if he gave up chasing or was just trying to show some mercy. Either way, pac did the right thing!
Hope he won't show the same consideration to gayweather tho! I like Cotto and he is a real warrior and a gentleman! Floyd however is another matter. I don't care if he ends up a vegie!
