Reeva Steenkamp's family attended the funeral for Reeva Steenkamp, reports NBC News on Feb. 20, 2013. Steenkamp is the 29-year-old South African model and law school graduate who was found shot dead at the home of South African sprint runner and Paralympic and Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius, 26.
Pistorius has been in trial for premeditated murder. According to Pistorius’ lawyers, the athlete admits to having shot Steenkamp while she was locked in a bathroom, but he claims he thought she was an intruder. As reported at FabWags.com, neighbors gave statements that they had heard shouting coming from Pistorius's house in the past and that police had come to the house before for domestic disturbances.
"There’s a space missing inside all the people that she knew," said Reeva's brother. "Everyone is sad understandably, but at certain points we were smiling whilst remembering Reeva because we only have good memories of her."
Steenkamp was scheduled to appear on season five of the reality TV program "Tropika Island of Treasure." At the Tropika website, the Cape Town born Reeva had a "passion for cars and cooking" and she preferred "to read a book on her off days and spend quality time with friends and family."
