On Sunday of Labor Day weekend, hundreds of sheep run down the main street of Reed Point while thousands of spectators look on.

Montana is full of quirky festivals and this is one of the best.

Vendors line the street, an auctioneer tries to raise funds, inflatable slides lure kids (and their grandparents' money) and various food odors waft through the air.

Officially called the "Reed Point Sheep Drive", it's more often referred to as the "Running of the Sheep" as a humorous nod to the Running of the Bulls in Spain.

The day starts off with sheep shearing demonstrations, a parade and a gunfight in the street. The parade includes the Shriner's Band, floats, antique cars, covered wagons, horse groups and more. First, second and third place prizes are always awarded to parade entrants.

Over 70 vendors line the main street and a special area has children's rides and petting zoo.

The main event starts at 4:00 p.m. when hundreds of sheep quietly run down main street.

At the end of the day there is a street dance with live music.

The 'Running Of The Sheep' Sheep Drive is held on Main Street in Reed Point, Montana. Exit 392 from I-90.
