Reed Krakoff's pre fall 2013 collection delineate sharp dressing. Krakoff says that the collection is inspired by the concept of uniform and it is well manifested in the stark lines and minimalistic style of menswear inspired garments, like the structured chesterfield coats and chunky cashmere sweaters. But the resolute edges of the pieces are softened by rubber dipped lace fabrics and the super soft textures of mink and cashmere. "The collection is full of juxtaposition. Throughout, the masculine elements are balanced by a subtle, poetic femininity in texture palette and detail" says Krakoff.
The subdued color palette of the collection (most pieces are black, grey and soft brown) is punctuated by the deep cadmium yellow, most appropriate for fall. The ingenious process of hand painting the snakeskin texture makes Krakoff stand out with his almost serene collection. The loafer-like sling back is one of the most inspiring footwear we have seen in 2013 pre-fall collections The slim trousers paired with boxy coats, wrap skirts with asymmetrical hem matched with oversized vests, mink tops and shearling bomber jackets create a whole line of wearable apparel that has an elegant, understated yet edgy appeal. You can easily visualize Rooney Mara wearing a piece from this collection to a premiere. Overall a very well constructed, thought out collection that doesn't try too hard and yet delivers an astounding style.
