Mike Reed is back in the ring on March 7 facing his toughest opponent to date. At the famous Rosecroft Race Way, Reed will square off against Rebellious Bilas Mahasin from Oakland, California. Mahasin comes east with a 4-0 record and comes with a reputation of being a top contender in his own right. Keystone Boxing will be promoting it's second boxing card of 2014 in a year long schedule that looks like a card every other month until December.
Reed, a Jr. Welterweight, won 6 times in 2013 and if he stays on schedule, will fight at least 6 times this year. Reed trains in Clinton, Maryland at the Dream Team Boxing Gym, owned and operated by his father and trainer Michael Pinson. Reed won his 7th fight in January against Jorge Marquez, another fighter who came east from Arizona and ran into the talented southpaw Reed, 7-0, 5 KO's. Reed recalls, "I was satisfied with my performance. I thought I won every round, but in the first few rounds Marquez landed a few more punches than I would have liked.....later I used my defense and my angles were better. In the 5th, I popped his ear drum with a right hook. After he gabbed his ear, I landed another left hand and the ref stopped the fight."
"I thought Mike showed a lot of patience in his last fight. He took his time and used his angles well. We work on angles in the gym all the time. He stayed on the ropes a little too much, so Marquez made us make some adjustments, which we did and we won the fight and now we look forward to the next one", says Pinson. Reed knows that each fight is a tough one and his team likes it that way. "Mahasin has been around quality fighters in the Bay area such as Andre Ward and Amir Khan. My team has prepared a good plan for this fight. It is important to fight quality opponents like Mahasin, who will come here in shape" says Reed. Keystones Boxing's Gene Molovinsky and Ross Molovinsky, promoter and match maker, respectively. are known to put together quality fight cards and this one will be no different. That's March 7 at Rosecroft Raceway. First bout is at 8 pm. Please subscribe and follow the Keystone Boxing events and the good young fighters like Mike "Yes Indeed" Reed,
