Reduce your sugar intake: Stop swallowing excess calories

There is an old saying that goes something like you are what you eat. That same way of thinking can also apply to what you drink as well. Some beverages are loaded with sugars while others have a lot caloric count.

One way to start a lifestyle of being healthy is to reduce the amount of sugar you consume in a day, week, month and year. By starting out a little at a time you can lower the amount of sugar you crave and reduce your chances of becoming a diabetic.

Here are some beverages that not only contain a lot of sugar and contain a high number of calories as you can see below:

  • Chocolate shakes – 580
  • Creamy coffee drinks – 480
  • Large smoothies – 354
  • Soda – 310
  • Juice – 250
  • Sports drinks – 200
  • Sweetened tea – 175

Here are some beverages that are void of sugar and contain a low number of calories that you should try and drink more often as you can see below:

  • Coffee – 10
  • Diet tea – 0
  • Water – 0
  • Hot tea – 0
  • Diet soda – 0

There is a huge difference in the calories you consume between the two lists. While consuming those excess calories you are also making your body absorb a lot more sugar than you really need to keep your energy going or satisfy your taste buds.
