Redstone Federal Credit Union has rolled out their new “Mobile Banking” service. This is an SMS Text messaging service that will allow you to do things like check your balance and get previous transaction amounts.
The only drawback to the previous transactions command is that it only lists dates and amounts, no point of sale description or information. For a list of all text commands, click here.
This feature, aside from the text message and third party data fee charges from your carrier, is a free service. It is also a prompt alternative to logging in. Texts are usually received in under a minute. You can also elect to have your balances sent to you every Friday morning.
Mobile Banking must be activated, however. To do so, log in to your online account, select the hyperlink entitled Mobile Banking on the same row as the Home tab. Enter your cell number, and they will send you an activation code. Enter the activation code and you are all set.
The number 454545 is not exclusive to Redstone Federal Credit Union (RFCU). If you have other accounts at other institutions which use this same service, you can still use RFCU’s mobile banking service. The text messages will differentiate the name of the financial institution on the text.
The service is powered by Intuit Financial Services, who also offers the FinanceWorks financial management solution you can access in your Redsone Federal Credit Union account online.
If SMS texting is not your idea of mobile banking, this will have to do for now. Redstone Federal Credit Union does have plans for a smart phone application in the “foreseeable future”.
Certain types of alerts are also available at Redstone, under the Email Alerts & Notifications tab. For more information, visit Redstone’s FAQ’s or read their Mobile Banking User Guide.

none of this means anything... when is there going to be a mobile app for redstone???
No app in the foreseeable future? So RFCU is just lazy and/or doesn't understand it's 2011? To me, it's pretty inexcusable, how do does it plan on competing with bigger banks with way more to offer? Apps today run the world and make life SO much easier. To me, it's just ignorant to not have one. Getting info by SMS is really retarded. Get out of the stone age!
They got apps now... checkum out.
they just rolled out Android and Iphone apps, today...halloween! what a treat!
