The Redskins are coming in 2013 and they will be surrounded by fans here in Richmond, Virginia which is full of 'Skins fans as anyone who drives through town will immediately see...the Washington Redskins are coming here and it will shorten the commute for those Redskins personnel who presumably live in Northern Virginia or somewhere near there. The Redskins have been training in Carlisle, Pennsylvania for years; the Richmond location is on West Broad Street, on the East-West thoroughfare, and is under construction now, in early February 2013. I haven't checked the mileage, but I'm sure the commute to the District of Columbia has been shortened for coaches and players.
The Redskins Are Coming!
The training camp is in what is part of the Museum District: their site is behind, North of, the Science Museum and is on a busy route for drivers in the morning and evening. The Redskins site will have neighbors soon after their arrival: the city of Richmond is planning on building a park next to their site. The Richmond Children's Museum is adjacent to the Science Museum.
Arbor Issues are Pending
According to local (Richmond, CBS 6) news broadcasts there is a meeting, open to the public, on February 5, 2013 to discuss what to do to, presumably, to replace the grove of trees mistakenly dozed over when construction began. The Thalhimer Theater at the Richmond Science Museum will be the site of the public meeting which will discuss alternatives. I predict new trees will be mentioned and, perhaps, certain types of trees will also be discussed. After all, what can you replace trees with.
I'll be there and report back what was discussed...perhaps statues or shrubs could be on the minds of Richmonders or Richmondites. Maybe Red Maples with those colorful red leaves will suit the fans who think in color themes.
What do you think accents appropriately those very royal colors of burgundy and gold?
