Reds lose again

The Reds are digging themselves a hole.  After getting crushed today by the Phillies 12-5, the Reds have now lost five of their last six games.  Before this slide, they were having an outstanding month of May.

With this latest drubbing will come the doubts and the "I told you so's" from some fans, being that between now and the All-Star break is usually the time of the season when the Reds show that they can't contend.  Losses start to add up and wins are few and far between.  Before you know it, the season is over and everyone starts thinking about next year.

The Reds still have a chance to bounce back from this.   After all, they're still above .500 and in the thick of the Central division.  But based on what history has shown us the past several years, it isn't totally unwarranted to have thoughts that the Reds have hit that annual wall.

The good news is that Joey Votto should be able to play soon after he recovers from an inner ear infection.  It's clear that the team has missed his bat.
