There are a lot of wines (and beer!) being poured for tasting in Modesto this week. Here's the rundown:

Wednesday & Thursday, 3/10-11, Mutt Lynch Winery. In 2009, every wine Mutt Lynch entered into competition won a medal. In fact, during last year's competition season, their wines garnered 51 medals at twelve important competitions. Their 2008 Fou Fou Le Blanc Sauvignon Blanc (multiple medals), 2008 Unleashed Chardonnay (Gold Medal), 2007 Merlot Over and Play Dead (Gold Medal), 2007 Château d'Og Cabernet Sauvignon (medaled), and 2007 Portrait of a Mutt Zinfandel will be poured at this event. 5-8 pm, $8 per person, plus 10% off the purchase of all wines tasted. -
Friday Night Flights, 3/12, Ciao, Northern Italy! Mr. Rehling will be pouring out selections from this great region. Included are a 2008 Tramin Pinot Grigio, a 2007 Lavis Dipinti Lagrein, a 2006 Allegrini Valpolicella, and a 2007 Rocche Costamagna Barbera d'alba. 5-8 pm, $10 per person, and again, 10% discount on all the wines poured. -
Saturday Tastings, 3/13, Imported Beers. It's not wine, but just as delicious. Blanche de Chambly White Ale, Belhaven Scottish Pub Ale, Fullers 1845 Ale, Ayinger Ur Weisse and Chimay Ale Blue Cap will be featured. 2-8 pm, $5 per person, and a 10% discount on tasted beers.

Alexander Valley, in northern Sonoma County, is a well-established and well known California appellation. It's best known for its warmer climate reds, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. The wines of the Alexander Valley will be poured at this weekend's tasting, on Thursday 3/11 (4-7 pm), Friday 3/12-Sunday 3/14 (2-5 pm). The cost is $5 per person.
