Redecorated and revamped: The River Rock

Saint Peter, Minn., is not a large town and doesn't have many secrets. With about 12,000 residents and a small private college, Saint Peter does have one little known secret. The River Rock is a favorite of both residents and college students alike.

The River Rock serves amazing coffees and teas, homemade bakery treats and sandwiches. All of the coffee and tea is certified fair trade and organic. Fair trade means that those involved in the growing process have been paid a fair amount with which they are able to sustain their farms and their families. The coffee they serve is also shade grown, which means that rain forests have not been compromised to create the fields to grow the coffee beans.

The food at the River Rock is above par for the average coffee shop. The food is made with locally grown ingredients, purchased from the wonderful cooperative across the street.

Whether you are looking for a cup of coffee to go or want to sit down and enjoy the afternoon, the River Rock is the place for you. Additionally, the River Rock just got a renovation in both the dining room and the kitchen, so if possible, the River Rock is even better.
