Red Wings trade Eaves to Predators

According to TSN, the Detroit Red Wings traded Calgary native Patrick Eaves to the Nashville Predators on Wednesday.

Eaves, who is also the son of former Calgary Flame Mike Eaves, was traded to the Predators with Swedish prospect Calle Jarnkrok and a third round draft choice in the 2014 National Hockey League Entry Draft for veteran forward David Legwand.

A checking forward, Eaves plays right wing. This season Eaves notched two goals and three assists for five points in 25 games. Eaves will be joining his fourth NHL franchise as he has also previously played with the Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes.

Legwand, a native of Detroit, has played his entire career in the National Hockey League with the Predators. So far thios year, Legwand has 10 goals, 30 assists and 40 points. Nashville drafted Legwand, a centre, with the second pick of the 1998 National Hockey League Entry Draft. He was chosen by the Predators behind the Tampa Bay Lightning's selection of Vincent LeCavailer.
