Red Wings get shootout goal to beat beleaguered Sharks, 2-1 (Photos)

The Sharks lost to the Detroit Red Wings, 2-1, in a game that was decided by a shootout Thursday night at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.

The Red Wings tied the game on a goal by Patrick Eaves midway through the third period after Logan Couture scored earlier, at 4:49, for the Sharks.

Numerous chances for both teams went unanswered throughout regulation as both teams looked frustrated by the misfortune.

Ryane Clowe, back after serving a two-game suspension, missed the last shot in the shootout that would have extended the game for the Sharks.

Scoring the only goal, Damien Brunner was the shootout hero for the Red Wings.

The Sharks will be glad to see the month of February in the rear view mirror after losing 10 of 12 games.

Patrick Marleau is still looking for his 400th goal and will get another chance when the Sharks play the Predators Saturday night at 730 p.m. in San Jose.
