According to Sportsnet, Daniel Alfredsson scored at 1:03 of overtime as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Calgary Flames 3-2 on Thursday at Joe Louis Arena.

Alfredsson notched two goals and an assist for the Red Wings who ended a six game winless streak. The veteran Swede almost scored a third goal, but it was waved back by the referee. Alfredsson's game winning goal came on the power play as Flames defenseman T.J. Brodie hooked Pavel Datsyuk with seconds remaining in regulation as the four-time Lady Byng Trophy winner went on the breakaway. Datsyuk also had an excellent game for the Red Wings as he notched three assists.

With the win, the Red Wings improve to 16-12-9, while the Flames drop to 13-16-6. The Flames next play the mighty Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. The Flames however might just be playing the Penguins at the right time because of the vast number of injuries Pittsburgh currently has on their blueline.
