It is so nice to be able to raise a glass of wine in celebration every now and then. Others enjoy a glass of wine with dinner at home or out with friends and family. It is always a good practice to know your limits and take precautions if your have the urge to drink more than usual. But the big question isn’t which wine is best with the type of meal you are about to enjoy which is also something to consider but it is which type of wine; red or white is the better choice to consume.
Wine, sparkling champagne or most forms of alchohol for that matter do have health benefits. It helps raise the good cholesterol, HDL or high-density lipoproteins in your system. It also aids in the reduction of blood clot formation and produces chamges in individuals blood pressure readings. Artery damage that is usually caued by high levels of low-density lipoproteins, LDL which is known as bad cholesterol can be prevented by moderately drinking wine.
Wine is believed to contain antioxidants known as falvonoids which can redice the risl of coronary heart disease. Although drinking alcohol has health benefits such as reducing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke and the development of gallstones it can also have adverse affects such as increasing the risk of breast cancer or scrolosis of the liver if you abuse your body by drinking too much and too often.
Red wine contains more reversterol which is the antioxidants found in the skin of the grapes. These falvonoids can help prevent blood vessel damage as well as reduce the cholesterol level of LDL. The amount of calories are the same for red wine as it is for white wine.
White wine is believed to help keep lung tissues healthy. White wine is more acidic than red wine and can affect the enamel on your teeth. It also contains a signifiant amount less of the healthy antioxidants that help heart health and prevent cancer that is contained in red wines. The amount of calories are the same for white wine as in red wine.
Sparkiling wine has mush of the same benefits of red wine. These products are produced from both white and red grapes. Sparkling wine is a good source of polyphenois and ontains fewer calories than either white or red wines. Champagne on the other hand does have the tendency to trigger migraine headaches.
Drink responsiblily and enjoy a glass of wine in moderation as well as the health benefits it can provide!
