Red wine review: Solar de Randez 2004 Rioja

Solar de Randez 2004 Rioja Crianza

Primarily made from Tempranillo grapes, Solar de Randez 2004 Rioja Crianza comes from the Rioja region of Spain. This Spanish wine possesses the characteristic deep red color of the varietal. This particular wine was aged for on year in oak barrels before being bottled, and has been anxiously waiting to enjoyed since. Flavors of oak, vanilla, and pepper float in the ether resting above the surface of the wine within the glass.

Bon Vivant Distributing sends this pleasant wine to local stores throughout the United States. This particular vintage may be difficult to find, but it is available at Sam's Wine and SpiritsBinny's Beverage Depot also carries the label.

Even if you do not usually prefer full-bodied reds, try Tempranillo wines; especially those from the Rioja region. Although they make for a bold wine perfect for drinking with chili, pork chops, and lamb, Riojas are nearly always smooth and generally have soft tannins that aren't too harsh on the palette.
