Red swimsuit from Farrah Fawcett pin-up on display at Smithsonian - video

Back in the 70's it was quite the pin-up in many boy's bedrooms, Farrah Fawcett wearing a red swimsuit.  On Wednesday the swimsuit was donated to the  Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. by her long time lover, Ryan O'Neal and her nephew Greg Walls.

Fawcett, who co-starred on Charlie's Angels with Kate Jackson and  Jaclyn Smith, left quite an impression with this poster which is now part of American pop culture.  The show itself is a classic,  and was re-branded as in several movies with Carmen Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore, as the second generation Angels.

Smithsonian museum director Brent D. Glass said of this donation, "Farrah Fawcett has made an enduring impression on American popular culture. We are pleased to welcome this donation."

The donation took place on Fawcett's birthday, February 2.  She died of cancer in 2009 at the age of 62.

Fawcett certainly was a beautiful woman, but her death should remind us how temporary beauty is.

Solomon reminds us of this: "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;  but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised."
