Well, the Chicago Red Stars may have been eliminated from playoff contention last week, but no one would have guessed it Wednesday, as they bested the the Philadelphia Independence 2-0 at Toyota Park. Marian Dalmy's first WPS goal in the second-half would highlight the victory, and help break the team's three-game losing streak.

Veronica Boguete would start things off for the Red Stars (6-11-6), scoring in the 4th minute off  a Casey Nogueira free kick to give the team an early lead.

Dalmy would then chime in at the 54h minute to give the team a much-needed cushion at 2-0. Coupled with fantastic goal play from keeper Jillian Loyden, who picked up her sixth shutout of the season, it would prove to be more than enough.

The Independence (10-9-4) move on to face FC Gold Pride before heading into the WPS Playoffs. The Red Stars conclude their season Sunday at Toyota Park against the Washington Freedom.
